Pasig City, November 9, 2024 – As part of its 27th anniversary celebration, Suntrust Properties, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Megaworld, reaffirmed its commitment to community building through Suntrust Cares, its annual corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. Dubbed as WAVES OF HOPE: Celebrating 27 Years of Building Dreams Together, , this year’s theme focused on the company’s enduring mission to nurture neighborhoods and empower communities for a bigger and brighter future. 

Suntrust employees and volunteers gathered for a day of meaningful activities at the Suarez Basketball Court in Flaviana, Pasig City, where the celebration took place. This year’s initiatives focused on addressing the health, mobility, safety, and immediate needs of the local residents, creating a tangible and lasting impact in the community. 

Promoting Health and Well-being

Aligned with the company's  mission to uplift communities, Suntrust organized a medical and dental mission for the residents of Barangay Pinagbuhatan. With the help of volunteer medical practitioners, the event offered essential healthcare services such as free medical consultations, tooth extractions, and distribution of medications. By addressing the community’s immediate health needs, this initiative not only provided critical services but also inspired residents to prioritize wellness in their daily lives.

Enhancing Mobility and Security

Recognizing the needs of residents with limited mobility, Suntrust donated essential equipment, including wheelchairs, crutches, canes, and white canes. In a move to bolster local security, the company also provided CCTV cameras to the barangay, reinforcing safety and building a more secure environment for residents.

Spreading Hope Beyond the Program

The morning program didn’t just end at the basketball court. After officially handing over gifts and safety equipment to Brgy. Pinagbuhatan, Suntrust employees personally visited several residents to deliver additional wheelchairs. These team members went house to house, distributing personal gifts and meeting with beneficiaries in an effort to create a more personal and lasting impact. This hands-on approach has always been part of Suntrust’s ‘malasakit’ culture. 

In addition, another group of volunteer employees organized the grocery distribution at the Suntrust Kirana site, where they distributed grocery bags to local families in the surrounding areas. This coordinated effort across multiple locations highlighted the company’s commitment to addressing the daily needs of the community on a broader scale.

Bringing Holiday Cheer

In the spirit of the season, Suntrust distributed traditional Filipino parols, or Christmas lanterns to residents, brightening their homes and adding festive cheer. This thoughtful gesture celebrated the season and fostered a sense of togetherness within the community.

As Suntrust President Atty. Harry M. Paltongan shared, “Our 27th anniversary is more than a milestone; it is a reaffirmation of our commitment to fostering a brighter future for all Filipinos. Through Suntrust Cares, we support our communities not only by building homes but by creating spaces that empower and uplift.”

Reflecting on Suntrust’s approach to CSR, Paltongan emphasized the company’s dedication to building meaningful relationships within local communities. “For us, CSR is an integral part of our identity. It is not just about giving back but about nurturing positive connections with those who support and coexist with our projects,” he said.

Paltongan also highlighted the essential role of partnerships with barangay leaders and stakeholders, ensuring that Suntrust’s developments foster a culture of cooperation and mutual respect. “We value our relationships with barangays because they provide essential support to our projects. By working closely with them, we can make a more meaningful impact and build enduring connections,” he added.

Looking forward, Paltongan assured that Suntrust’s CSR efforts will continue to evolve, as the company embraces creative and impactful ways to serve the community. “Our people are committed to innovating our CSR activities to bring hope and support where it’s most needed,” he said.
